Your blood glucose level (or blood sugar level) is the amount of glucose in your blood. The body gets glucose, a sugar, from the food we eat. Glucose is carried through the bloodstream to all the cells in the body. Like gas for a car, glucose is fuel for the body's cells and gives them energy.
