What Is Breast Cancer?

Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is a disease that happens when cells in the breast that are not normal grow and spread very fast. The cells group together to form a mass or lump called a tumor.

Breast cancer is treated with surgery to remove the tumor, medicines called chemotherapy (“chemo”), and radiation therapy (high-energy X-rays that kill cancer cells). When breast cancer is found and treated early, many people who have it can be cured.
