If you've ever gone to the doctor with a really sore throat, you may have had a test called a strep screen. First, the doctor touches the back of your throat with a cotton swab. Next, the swab is tested for the germ that causes strep throat.
This quick test lets your doctor tell you in minutes if you have strep throat. If you do, the doctor will give you a prescription for an antibiotic, which will help you get better.
