KidsHealth Editorial Policy

The KidsHealth® content on this site is licensed from The Nemours Foundation and is operated and administered by The Nemours Center for Health Delivery Innovation. This page describes the editorial policy that the KidsHealth team follows when creating content. It does not pertain to content in other areas of this site.

The KidsHealth articles and features on this site go through a rigorous editorial process that includes review by medical professionals. All information is for education only. This site is not intended to provide medical care. For specific medical advice, diagnoses, and treatment, consult your doctor.

How KidsHealth Content Is Created and Updated

The KidsHealth articles, animations, and features on this site are created by the physicians, writers, editors, and graphic designers of The Nemours Center for Health Delivery Innovation. Their goal is to make sure that all information is accurate, balanced, current, and family-friendly.

Physicians and other health experts review all KidsHealth content before it's published on this site. All content is reviewed and updated on a regular basis to keep medical information accurate and relevant. Articles show the most recent review date and expert reviewer names, where appropriate.

The KidsHealth editorial staff also reviews all reader comments about the articles on this site, including suggestions for possible improvements and corrections.

KidsHealth Content Is Inclusive

The KidsHealth editorial staff makes every effort to be as neutral as possible with regard to sex, race, color, religion, and age. Articles may refer to infants, children, and teens as "they." This means infants, children, and teens of any gender, unless otherwise specified.

How KidsHealth Medical Reviewers Are Selected

Articles and features on this site are reviewed by members of the KidsHealth Panel of Expert Reviewers. The physicians and other clinical experts on this panel have special interest in and experience with the particular subject area.

Panel members who may have a conflict of interest due to their workplace affiliation or another professional or personal interest are not permitted to review specific content.

How Links and Resources Are Selected

Expert reviewers and the editors at KidsHealth research the resources and links in each article to determine that they offer high-quality information that may be of interest to you. Although every effort is made to verify that the information these resources provide is up-to-date and accurate, the information tends to change and not all of it was necessarily reviewed by KidsHealth.

These resources are provided solely as a convenience to you and are not an endorsement by Nemours® or KidsHealth Educational Partners.
