Rasgo de células falciformes: Cinco problemas a tener en cuenta
Las personas con el rasgo de células falciformes pueden tener problemas de salud, pero estos no ocurren con frecuencia. Ten en cuenta a qué debes estar atento y cómo mantenerte sano. Si tienes un problema, busca ayuda lo antes posible.
¿A qué problemas de salud debo estar atento si tengo el rasgo de células falciformes?
Llama a tu médico de inmediato en los siguientes casos:
- Tienes calambres musculares o debilidad o te sientes agotado o con demasiado calor al hacer ejercicio físico. Si los músculos no reciben suficiente oxígeno cuando haces ejercicio físico intenso, existe una pequeña posibilidad de que surjan otros problemas.
- Tienes una lesión en el ojo. Las lesiones oculares (en los ojos) que causan sangrado delante de la pupila (llamado hipema) pueden aumentar la presión ocular (glaucoma).
- Tienes sangre en la orina (pis). Cuando la orina contiene sangre, puede verse rosada, roja o marrón. Por lo general, no es grave, pero rara vez puede ser un signo de cáncer de riñón o de un carcinoma medular renal.
- Tienes un dolor repentino en el lado izquierdo del abdomen o en el hombro izquierdo. Esto podría indicar que el bazo no está recibiendo suficiente sangre, un problema llamado "infarto esplénico".
- Sientes un dolor difícil de explicar.
Es más probable que surjan problemas si:
- estás muy deshidratado
- haces mucho ejercicio físico (como un deporte competitivo o entrenamiento militar)
- pasas tiempo a grandes altitudes (como escalar montañas o visitar una ciudad que está a mucha altura sobre el nivel del mar)
- pasas tiempo en lugares donde la presión atmosférica es elevada (como al hacer buceo)
La buena noticia es que si te mantienes hidratado y haces ejercicio físico puedes ayudar a prevenir algunos de estos problemas.
