3 maneras de ayudar a un niño cuando se siente solo
Todos los niños se sienten solos de vez en cuando. Pero los niños se pueden sentir mejor cuando sus padres trabajan con ellos para ayudarlos a practicar habilidades que les permitan conectarse con otros, sentir que pertenecen a un grupo y sentirse cerca de otras personas. Estas habilidades se conocen como habilidades de conexión social.
Aquí encontrará 3 maneras de ayudar a su hijo a construir estas habilidades de conexión social:
1. Conéctese con su hijo. Resérvese un tiempo para conectarse con su hijo cada día, aunque solo sea durante unos pocos minutos. Puede ser tan solo una breve conversación o escuchar cómo le ha ido el día. Escúchelo con toda su atención. Establezca contacto visual con él, sonríale y abrácelo. Hágale saber que siempre puede contar con su apoyo. Con el tiempo, su hijo aprenderá que una de las mejores maneras de aliviar su soledad consiste en pensar y conectarse con alguien de quien ya se sentía cerca.
2. Ayude a su hijo a forjar unas amistades sanas. Hable con su hijo sobre sus amistades. Averigüe con quién le gusta pasar el tiempo y por qué. Enséñele habilidades para hacer amigos, como ser amable y leal. Enséñele a incluir a otras personas, a esperar su turno, a escuchar y a tener espíritu deportivo. Ayúdelo a aprender a dar la cara por sí mismo y por los demás. Los niños se sienten menos solos cuando mantienen unas relaciones positivas y cercanas y sienten que forman parte de una familia, un grupo de amigos o una comunidad.
3. Enseñe a su hijo a ayudar, ser amable y dar las gracias a los demás. Muestre a su hijo cómo ayudar, tanto en casa como en la escuela y en la comunidad. Enséñele a ser amable y a agradecer los favores a los demás. Sea un buen ejemplo para su hijo mostrándole agradecimiento cuando él sea amable con usted. La verdadera recompensa consistirá en cómo se sienta cuando vea el impacto de su comportamiento y sienta lo bien que se encuentra cuando note esa conexión social. Por eso, las personas que son amables y que ayudan a las demás se sienten más conectadas y menos solas.
¿Y si mi hijo necesita más ayuda para superar su soledad?
La mayoría de las veces los niños y los adolescentes son capaces de afrontar sus sentimientos de soledad. Algunos encuentran la manera de sentirse mejor por sí solos o gracias al apoyo de uno de sus padres o de un buen amigo. La soledad se esfuma cuando un niño encuentra una forma de conectar, de sentirse aceptado, de ser comprendido o de que le recuerden que pertenece a un grupo que lo acepta tal y como es.
Pero también hay sentimientos se soledad que son más profundos y más difíciles de superar. Los niños y los adolescentes pueden necesitar ayuda para superarlos. Si le preocupa que su hijo esté afrontando unos sentimientos de soledad que le están durando demasiado o que le están ocurriendo con demasiada frecuencia, hable con su médico. A su hijo le podría ir bien hablar con un terapeuta u otro profesional de la salud mental para encontrar maneras de afrontar las cosas.
