La entesopatía es una enfermedad que afecta los puntos de unión de los tendones, los ligamentos o los músculos con los huesos.

El lugar en el que un ligamento, tendón o músculo se une al hueso recibe el nombre de "entesis". Cualquier trastorno que cause dolor, hinchazón, irritación o daños en la entesis se puede considerar una entesopatía.
Las entesopatías frecuentes incluyen la artritis (inflamación de las articulaciones), la tendinitis de Aquiles (inflamación del tendón de Aquiles), la fascitis plantar (inflamación del tejido conectivo en la parte inferior del pie) y la espondilitis anquilosante (inflamación de las articulaciones de la columna vertebral).
Las entesopatías, como la artritis, pueden ser de corta duración (solo duran unas pocas semanas o meses y desaparecen para siempre) o pueden ser crónicas y durar meses o años. En casos excepcionales, duran toda la vida.
Las entesopatías pueden causar hinchazón, pérdida del movimiento, dolor intenso y sensibilidad a la presión y al tacto en la entesis afectada. El tratamiento de una entesopatía depende de la afección, pero suele incluir medicamentos para tratar el dolor y reducir la inflamación, así como fisioterapia para recuperar el uso y la función de las articulaciones.

Muchos tipos de entesopatías, como la tendinitis y la fascitis, pueden desaparecer con el tiempo, pero otras pueden durar para toda la vida. El tratamiento y la fisioterapia para las entesopatías pueden ayudar a reducir el dolor, aumentar la flexibilidad y la amplitud de movimiento, además de atenuar los efectos de la afección.
