Hello, Nicole,
Welcome to your second trimester! Most women consider this the best time of pregnancy. Why? Because hormone shifts give you a boost in energy, and early-pregnancy fatigue and morning sickness start to subside. It's also too early for typical late pregnancy discomforts (hello, heartburn!). So this makes it the perfect time to shop for baby gear, return to an exercise routine if your doctor says it's OK, or even take a "babymoon."
If you're well into your second trimester and still continue to feel tired or have morning sickness, it could keep up until your 20th week or later. But severe vomiting, dehydration, or weight loss isn't normal and requires a trip to the doctor. Sometimes women with these signs of severe morning sickness need special medicines to feel better and make sure their babies are getting enough nutrients.
In Her Words...
"By the second trimester, I was feeling pretty good. I'd had plenty of time to get used to the idea of being pregnant and having a baby. I wasn't huge yet. I was sleeping well. I felt comfortable and had that pregnancy glow."
- Esther, mother of Olivia
