A-Z: Cuerpo extraño, Oído
Tener un objeto, o "cuerpo extraño", dentro del conducto auditivo (el tubito que llega hasta el tímpano) es un motivo frecuente de que los niños vayan al médico. A veces, los cuerpos extraños de difícil acceso deben ser extraídos por un otorrinolaringólogo.

Los niños se suelen meter dentro de los oídos objetos como piedrecitas, cuentas, comida, puntas de goma de borrar o piezas de juguetes, que les pueden causar dolor y problemas de audición de carácter temporal. A veces, puede entrar un insecto dentro del oído.
La mayoría de los objetos no causan daños; pero las pilas de botón (como las que se encuentran en los relojes y algunos aparatos electrónicos portátiles) pueden causar quemaduras químicas y eléctricas dentro del conducto auditivo.
Si hay lesiones leves en el conducto auditivo, el médico puede recetar antibióticos o gotas óticas (para los oídos).
Tenga en cuenta lo siguiente
Tener un objeto extraño dentro del oído es una causa frecuente de visitas médicas a urgencias, sobre todo entre los niños menores de 6 años de edad. La mayoría de los cuerpos extraños se pueden extraer fácilmente.
