A to Z: Open Wound, Forehead
May also be called: Cut
An open wound of the forehead is a cut or break in the skin there. The wound may be minor and near the surface of the skin. Or it can be more serious, affecting deeper tissues of the forehead, such as nerves, blood vessels, or bone.
More to Know
A wound on a child's face or neck requires medical attention. Doctors may try to close the wound with stitches, tape, or an adhesive glue.
Keep in Mind
Deep, large, and dirty wounds need more care. (A "dirty" wound is one that germs have gotten into.) After a child receives medical attention for a forehead wound, follow instructions carefully to prevent infection and minimize scarring.
