La miringitis bullosa es una infección de la membrana timpánica (el tímpano). En el tímpano se forman pequeñas ampollas llenas de líquido que causan un dolor intenso.

La miringitis bullosa afecta más a los niños que a los adultos. Se propaga a través de los mismos virus y bacterias que causan las infecciones del oído medio (otitis media), por lo que ambas afecciones suelen darse juntas.
El dolor aparece de repente y dura entre 24 y 48 horas. Entre otros síntomas, se incluye la supuración del oído infectado, la pérdida temporal de la audición y la fiebre.
La miringitis bullosa se suele tratar con antibióticos y analgésicos (medicamentos para aliviar el dolor). A veces es necesario drenar las ampollas quirúrgicamente (operando al paciente).
Tenga en cuenta
La miringitis bullosa es dolorosa, pero en la mayoría de los casos se puede tratar con éxito sin que se comprometa la audición a largo plazo.
