My Periods Are Irregular. What's Going On?
I haven't had my period in a few months and I know I'm not pregnant. What's wrong with me?

It's not unusual, especially in the first couple of years after you've begun menstruating, to miss periods or to have an irregular menstrual cycle. Many girls also notice changes in the flow and duration of their periods from month to month.
Though irregular and missed periods are common, it's always a good idea to talk to your doctor about it, especially if you had been getting regular periods before. Some medical problems (such as hormone imbalances) and other things (such as stress or too much exercise) also can cause girls to miss their periods. An evaluation by a doctor can help determine the cause of any possible problems.
