Does skim milk provide the same vitamins and minerals as whole milk?

Yes, skim milk has the same nutritional value as whole milk — with less fat. Some brands of skim milk have extra calcium added for even more of this important, bone-strengthening nutrient, and some have a small amount of extra fiber added to make the milk look and feel (on the tongue) more like 2% milk.

Skim, 1%, or 2% milk is recommended after 2 years of age. These often have added vitamin A and vitamin D, since these can be lost when the fat is removed.
