What Kids Say About: Going Back to School

What Kids Say About: Going Back to School

We asked kids how they felt about going back to school and here's what they had to say!

  • I'm looking forward to math. I like numbers. I'm not looking forward to lunch, especially the chicken nuggets. They're usually burnt.
    Katie, 8
  • I'm looking forward to recess and making new friends and seeing my old friends. I like science because we get to do experiments. I'm not looking forward to math and homework because I can't watch TV.
    Julia, 7
  • I'm looking forward to changing classes and making new friends. I'm definitely looking forward to meeting my teachers. I'm not looking forward to waking up so early in the morning. In the summer, I would go to bed very late and wake up late.
    Darina, 10
  • I'm looking forward to a new school and making new friends. I can't wait until cheerleading tryouts and my first dance of the year! I'm not looking forward to switching schools. I mean — this is my 6th school and I'm only in 7th grade!
    G. Divina, 12
  • I am looking forward to meeting my new teachers, the new students and and seeing my friends. I also can't wait to play the school sports and take foreign languages. In my school, 7th grade is the first year we take foreign languages and play sports. I am not looking forward to the hours of homework we have each night. It was really hard to get organized last year and they say this year we have more work, which is harder, which will make it really hard to get organized.
    Marlee, 12
  • I'm looking forward to seeing my friends, having fun, and art class with Dahlia (the teacher) because I didn't get to see my friends in a long time, because I like art, and I really like Dahlia. I'm not looking forward to getting up early and getting ready for school. I'd rather stay home all day and play.
    Ariel, 7
  • I'm looking forward to meeting new friends. I'm not looking forward to homework.
    Nick, 5
  • I'm looking forward to writing in cursive. I want to learn it because I only know how to write my name! I'm not looking forward to a new teacher. My teacher is having a baby so I will have a substitute for almost the whole year!
    Kari, 8
  • I'm looking forward to math. It's my favorite subject. I'm not looking forward to Spanish class because it's going to be new and hard.
    Ryan, 8
  • I'm looking forward to meeting some new friends. I'm not looking forward to the rules (there are so many to remember) and bullies.
    Finbar, 7
  • I'm looking forward to seeing my friend Stephen and meeting new friends. I'm not looking forward to tests.
    Jill, 6
  • I'm looking forward to having good days at school and new friends — also having a nice teacher. I'm not looking forward to being bad and getting sent to the principal.
    Emily, 8
  • I am going to third grade and I am looking forward to what I am going to learn and what homework I am going to get. I am not looking forward to getting up really early and sitting in a chair all day.
    Olivia, 8
  • I'm looking forward to gym. We play games like "Cut the Cake." I'm not looking forward to homework. I just don't like it.
    Taylor, 8

    Alexa, 8
  • I'm looking forward to meeting new friends. I'm not looking forward to homework because I have to stay up almost the whole night.
    Darian, 7

    Kyla, 8
