When Can I Wear Contact Lenses?

When Can I Wear Contact Lenses?

When can I wear contact lenses?

Kids who wear glasses may be eager to switch to contact lenses, but usually they're not recommended for kids younger than 12. The reason is that contacts are small, delicate items that must be properly inserted in the eye and removed as directed. Contact lenses must be cleaned and properly cared for.

By the time most kids are 12, they will be ready to handle this extra responsibility. Some contact lenses are disposable after one use and this may be an option for younger kids who want contacts. But if a kid prefers to keep things simple and wear only glasses, that's fine, too.
